The Foundation for Security and Development (FOSDA) in collaboration with OXFAM and the Ghana Youth Manifesto Coalition (GYMC) have met the Minister for Youth Development and Empowerment in Accra to share ideas on youth development in Ghana. The meeting was held at the Ministry of Youth Development and Empowerment on 27th March, 2025.
The meeting forms part of FOSDA's engagement session with state actors to contribute to ongoing state efforts to coordinate and streamline youth development initiatives and interventions.
Among the issues presented were the coordination of youth initiatives across all Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs); the establishment of the Ghana Youth Federation (GYF) to drive youth in decision making processes and political will for the Ghana Action Plan on the United Nations Security Council Resolution (UNSCR 2250) on Youth Peace and Security (YPS).
The Minister George Opare Addo stressed on the ongoing progress being made by government in the youth development space including the GYF and Legislative Instruments (LI). Hon. George Opare Addo also signalled that the GYF will be established by August 2025 as mandated by the National Youth Authority Act of 2016.
Furthermore, he urged FOSDA and partners to maintain close collaboration with the Ministry and bring to bear their ideas and experiences to enhance state-CSO relation in the youth development space.
